  • in the trump suit – Q, K, 10, A, 9, J;
  • in the not trump suit – 9, J, Q, K, 10, A;

The aim of the game: to collect 1001 (101) points or more the first.
The points amount of all cards: 162 (16)

The value of cards and tricks

The value of cards is different in two types of game:

Trump suit Trump suit(No trump) Not trump suit
A 11 19 11
K 4 4 4
Q 3 3 3
J 20 2 2
10 10 10 10
9 14 0 0

The value of the last trick is 10 points. The pair which takes all tricks gets 50 points “Kapo”.

Combinations

There are the following combinations in belote game:

* To announce the combinations you may press F2 or just use the Menu.

* To show the combinations you may press F4 or just use the Menu (in the open version of the game you do not need to show).

The combination of“4” - 4 cards of the same rank:

The seniority of this combination: J, 9, A, 10 , K, Q (in descending order): Any combination of “4” is higher than other combinations.

  • 4 х J – 200 points
  • 4 х 9 – 140 points
  • 4 х A – 110 points
  • 4 х Q,K,10 – 100 points
The seniority of this combination: А, 10, K, Q, J, 9 (in descending order): Any combination of “4” is higher than other combinations.

  • 4 х A – 190 points
  • 4 х 10,K,Q,J – 100 points
  • 4 х 9 – 0 points

The combination of “100” (100 points) - a sequence of five cards of the same suit:

The combination of “50” (50 points) - a sequence of four cards of the same suit:

“Tierce” (20 points)- a sequence of three cards of the same suit:

The combination is higher if there are more combinations in it (the amount of cards more than 5 is not taken into account) and the higher is the card of the highest combination, the combination is higher itself. If the amount of cards in two combinations is the same the highest is the trump combination or the one which has been declared earlier.

The combination of a “Belote” (20 points) - “the King” and “Queen” of trump suit:

This combination is declared while throwing the first (each) combination of cards and is counted only after the announcement. While throwing the second card nothing is declared. The points for “Belote” are counted to that player who has announced it regardless of the trick.

If you choose the version "Without 4 cards and 100s" , then in that games neither 4 cards nor 100s will be calculated.

If you choose the "Private" version of game, then that game will not allowed to watch for other players.

Draw

The draw starts from the moment of suit request. The opponent must throw the same suit if he/she has it or must step by the trump if he/she doesn’t have such. If he/she doesn’t have either that suit or trump any other card can be thrown. If a non trump suits is covered by a trump and there is the highest trump you should cover by it. If the trump is smaller any other card can be thrown.
During the first round of the draw the player can announce the combinations that he/she has (except “Belote”). If the combination is not declared - it is not counted. The second combination that was announced during the second round must be shown (seniority of combinations is described in the Chapter “Combination”). If the opponent does not show the highest combination the player shows the smallest one and it is counted.

Scoring

* When you press F8, you confirm that you have no more points to win.

On completion of the draw the scores are counted. The highest scores are the amount of points for collected cards and combinations. If the player takes trump and hasn’t collected more points than his opponent, all the points and combination points are passed to the opponent. The points of each are added to the points that were collected during the previous hands and are written in table.

Game rules

This type of belote is played among 4 players. Each player sees himself as the first, and the others as the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The players are chosen randomly by the system. The personal rankings of each player are also considered. The rankings are based on the players’ victories, losses, game speed and number of games completed. Games interrupted or exceeding the time limits have a negative effect on the rankings. The players are divided into pairs at the beginning of the game. They are positioned clockwise in a way that partners do not appear side by side, i.e. 1st and 3rd, 2nd and 4th in the following sequence - player1, player2, player3, player4. At the start of each round one of the players deals the cards - 8 to each player. The players then choose which suit will be the trump. A game may be played without a trump (no-trump contract). The player on the left of the dealer is the first to choose the trump, then comes the one on his left and so on.

The Game

Bidding or determining the trump

Players have the right to bid in turns. A player may name any suit starting from 8, which means the following, “if the given suit is a trump, we shall score at least 80 points with our cards”. For example, if a player declares “hearts 8”, it means he and his partner must score at least 80 points with their cards (combinations are also considered). A team loses if it fails to score the amount declared. If a player declares higher than 25, he might announce they are going to score a capot. If so, even if they score the amount announced but fail the capot, they still lose. In the event of a team declaring they will have a capot for a certain trump, the other team has no right to choose another trump. If a player doubts his opponents will score the number of points announced, he can risk and double. If his opponents do lose, he will then score more points. However, if the opponents succeed in scoring the amount of points announced, they will score. A double may be redoubled, if the player is sure he can score the number of points he had announced. The Game
Once the trump is chosen, the player on the left of the dealer plays his first card. The player next to him plays next and then the other two. The one who has played the “strongest” card makes the next step. The 4 cards are added to the player’s and his partner’s “beaten” cards. The round continues until the players’ cards expire. At the end of the round, the teams are given scores in accordance with the cards they have beaten. The team which scores the announced number of points the first wins the game.

Rank of cards in ascending order

With trumps With trumps (without) Without trumps
A 11 19 11
K 4 4 4
Q 3 3 3
J 20 2 2
10 10 10 10
9 14 0 0
7,8 0 0 0

Trumps beat the non-trumps.

The player who starts the round may play any of his cards. The rest must play according to the following rules:
  • if the starting player has played a non-trump, other players must follow, if they have any cards of the same suit.
  • if the starting player has played a non-trump suit, his opponent, if being unable to follow suit, must play a trump, if the latter is stronger than all the cards hitherto played. An exception is the case, when the player’s partner has already played a card, which is the strongest among those played up to that moment. In this case, playing a trump is not necessary.
  • if the starting player has played a trump, his opponent, if having a trump stronger than all the cards played up to that moment, must play it. If his trumps are weaker, he still must play them. Only if having no trumps can he play non-trumps.

Combinations

Belote has the following combinations.

Four of a kind

Ranks of the cards J, 9, A, 10, K, Q (in descending order): A 4 of a kind is stronger than any other combination.

  • 4 х J – 200 points
  • 4 х 9 – 140 points
  • 4 х A – 110 points
  • 4 х 10,K,Q – 100 points

Ranks of cards when choosing no-trumps: A, 10, K, Q, J, 9, 8, 7 (in descending order). A 4 of a kind is superior to other combinations.

  • 4 х A – 190 points
  • 4 х 10,K,Q,J – 100 points
  • 4 х 9 – 0 points

100 points – a sequence of 5 cards of the same suit

50 points - a sequence of 4 cards of the same suit:

Tierce (20 points) – a sequence of 3 cards of the same suit

Belote (20 points) – King and Queen of the trump suit

A player may possess several of the mentioned combinations at the same time. But they are considered only if they do not overlap. A belote-reblote doesn’t depend on the other combinations and brings 2 points at all events. If possessing a combination, a player must declare it prior to making the first move. Nothing is declared when playing the 2nd card.

To assure the other players he indeed has the combination, the player must show it to them prior to his 2nd move: He might have played one of the cards of the combination in the 1st move. If so, the rest of the combination is to be shown. In the event of both parties having combinations, only one party’s combinations can be effective, namely, the superior one. Often 2 opponents have the same combination at the same time.

A combination has a high card

The high card is the type of the card, which constitutes the 4 of a kind. In other cases, the high card is the highest one in a combination. The high cards are standard: A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7. In the event of 2 opponents having combinations with equally high cards, the one, who has a trump, will dominate. If none has a trump, the one, who shows his combination the first, has the advantage. If a player forgets to show a combination, the opponents acquire an opportunity to show theirs upon the next step.

Calculation

Scores are calculated in the following way. A team proposing a trump and scoring the amount of points announced, wins and scores the amount of points announced + (162 – points won by the opponent) + points for combinations (if no double was announced), whereas the opponents score the points they had with their trumps (the total number of the cards is divided by 10). The team loses, if they do not score the number announced and their opponents score the points announced + 16 + points for the combinations.

The aggregate sum of all cards is 152 (15): The team which takes the last hand scores additional 10 points. A capot is the event, when a team takes all the cards. A capot gives the winners not 162, but 250 points: If the game is close to its outcome after the capot, another hand is dealt (no game ends in a capot). A player may declare a combination in the 1st hand of the game, except a belote. An unannounced combination is not considered. The announced combination is to be shown in the 2nd hand. If an opponent fails to show a stronger combination, the player shows his weaker one, which is then considered. A game is finished once a pair of players reaches the score limit. In the event of opponents reaching the same score limit, another game round is started to determine the winner (no game ends in a tie).

Outcome

After the game ends, the winners get the prize pool. The players’ individual rankings are changed according to their performance. The prize pool is divided equally between the 2 winners, excluding cases, when a player fails to participate due to technical reasons, particularly as a result of a connection failure. In such cases, the prize pool is divided among the 3 players who are online at that moment. Players, who fail to complete the game due to technical and other reasons, have their rankings brought down.

Open Belote

Open belote is very similar to standard belote, but there are a few key differences:

1. Open belote is designed to be played with only two players.

2. The dealing of cards is done differently.

One of the players is assigned to be the dealer. The dealer places 2 rows of cards with 4 cards each: one set of 8 cards for the dealer and one set for the non-dealer.

The dealer then repeats the process, but with only 4 cards per player stacked on top of their top row, and this time, face-up (opened).

After dealing, the bidding begins. The non-dealer now has the ability to initiate the game by choosing the trump suit. If the non-dealer chooses to forfeit their choice, the dealer must choose the trump suit. If the dealer forfeits their choice, another 4 face-up cards are dealt to each player. The choice to choose a trump suit then returns to the non-dealer. If he forfeits again, the initiation is forced onto the dealer who must choose a trump suit.

The game then commences and the non-dealer plays the first trick. When playing a face-up card with a face-down card underneath it, the face-down card must be flipped to be open.

3. Declaration

In open belote your sequence declarations can grow with every trick and so you must think carefully as to what moves to make, what cards to open, etc. A tierce (20 points) can grow into a quarte (50 points) which can grow into a quint (100 points). For example, if you have the Q, J and 10 of the trump suit you can declare a tierce and score 20 points. If you open a K or 9 of the same suit after, you can score to 50 with a Bela and a 100 with a quint. It is therefore very important to take note of all cards very carefully to get the most out of declarations. Lastly, if your sequence declaration grows, the points are not cumulative. Only the highest declaration is counted.

On completion of the draw the scores are counted. The highest scores are the amount of points for collected cards and combinations. If the player takes trump and hasn’t collected more points than his opponent, all the points and combination points are passed to the opponent. The points of each are added to the points that were collected during the previous hands and are written in table.

* In Open Belote , in order not to lose with a "Capot", it is necessary for the taken trick to be worth a point.

* You can join or create a table in AMD, as well as in the C conventional unit. The C Conventional unit is equal to 486. 43 AMD.
